Hi all,

New here and already asking for help!?!?!

I'm in the middle of a re-build on a 1978 CJ250. Wiring all re-done, and when tested, on the first click round on the igniton, the neutral light comes on, Main beam and Hi beam work, as does the horn and brake light, but no side light or rear light! (This is all without the engine running, as still not started it!)

On the second click around, only the side light and rear light works (parking perhaps)

My question is, is this correct? ...

Currently in the middle of a CJ250 re-build, as well as other bike projects, and various paint jobs as well!

Although my primary interest has been paint recently (some of my work can be seen on www.airbornecustompaint.co.uk), I'm now being drawn more and more towards fabrication!!

So.......standby for lots of questions!!! ...

Currently in the middle of this:

It looks like this at the moment:

With a paint scheme planned like this:

It's just the side panels at the moment, in Ivory and Midnight blue, with Gold leaf, and pearl chequers (which can only be seen when the light catches them!! ). This is only with it's first clearcoat layer on, more to go before wetsanding, and polishing!

Hello. I came across this site while seeking inspiration for my projects.

I am performing a modernization-restoration (resto-mod, in the car-guys language) of a 1981 Yamaha XV920R (US version of the TR1). Styling for that bike will remain mostly true to the original, but with all modern tires, brakes, suspension, engine management. And a turbocharger. This is a long-term project, about 50% complete.

I had enough extra parts in the shed I decided to build a second bike for near-term ...

I returned to motorcycles after an absence of about 20 years (standard mid life crisis). The first thing I did was buy a BMW R100RS then started tinkering. The tinkering morphed into obsession which resulted in a cafe racer.

I posted some shots here:

Hello all, Just a quick note to say im looking forward to enjoying your forum. I have been around bikes all my life. Competed in observed trials, dirt track and am currently roadracing as this is my release. I own current sport bikes and touring bikes but in my heart my classics are where it's at. Cafe racers seem to have paved the way for sport riding today and i have the most interest and respect in that area of motorcycling. Thanks. Shawn

Hello,

I was wondering how you change oil by a CB750. Because of the dry-sump system they use a oiltank.
I let all the oil off and removed the oilfilter.
Now the question is when I put new oil in the oiltank (3.5 litres) how does that work? And when do I know there is enough oil in the sysytem?
In other words: how does it work?

This was the easy part.

At the moment, the engine is ready for painting.

I want to polish a lot of stuff, but I know now my talent is in a different area.

It's going to be a cafe-ish bike with spoked wheels, a seatpipe and probably a aluminium bellypan.

I'm missing key parts like the rear fork, the upper triple tree, the wiringloom and an exhasut. So if anyone (in Europe :)) on this forum has any tips about getting those (it appears to be pretty hard to find parts for an SP) has ...

hi guys,

we (gerhard and rien) start this topic because we have a new project.

we are trying to build a café out of a suzuki gn400 single cilinder, and it's going to be a hell of a job because the gn400 is a real chopper.

So we have to upper the back and lower the front to get a more 'racing' set up.

the motorcycle is stripped allready and all the parts are sorted.

we ordered a lot of new parts like new rearshocks, clip-ons, a megaton exhaust, some new bearings, and more café parts,

Ok here is the PLAN. I have a 1980 honda xl185s. Its an old on/off road bike. Although I love cafe racers and would love to build another one. From looking at the cb125 builds the frame is pretty much identical. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So my question is dare to be different and build a cafe out of a dirt bike or drop the idea?
