'The Invincible Sporton' 2013 proudly Malaysian Made finally completed!

Post  faizal on Fri 5 Jun - 3:27

Some of the pictures of the bike while it was being build, later, i will post more pictures of the finish bike.Like i said before, it took me around a year to finish the bike starting from the drawing board up untill running. You guys are welcome to comment..

It took almost 3 months to get the jet for the carb right. It's well worth the waait though

Here are the specification of The Sporton:-

1-1969 HD 900cc Ironhead Sportster motor (rebored with high comp pistons)
2-1957 Norton Featherbed Wideline Frame with custom alloy engine mountings
3- Andrews Y Performance race cams (.425 lift)
4-Joe Hunt Racing Magneto
5-Spitfire silicone HT plug cables
6-Twin Barrel Weber 40 DCOE carburettor with modified jets + single throttle linkage system with custom inlet alloy manifold
7-Dunstall Power High Flow exhaust system
8-Norton Dunstall alloy rearsets
9-4LS front hub and brake system
10-2LS rear hub and brake system
11- 54 tooth rear sprockets
12-Norton Shortend Roadholder forks (manx spec)
13-Marzocchi AG Strada rear damper
11-Borrani WM3 18 inch alloy rims (front and rear)
12-Norton Manx 5 gallon fibreglass tank
13-Norton Manx alloy central alloy tank and Alloy seat
14-Dunstall clip ons
15-Custom alloy exhaust manifolds
16-and countless custom brackets and plates

The bike has since covered 500 miles since a full engine rebuild and seems to run like a raped ape.....I'm still in the process of getting the jets for the weber carb right (nights of recalibrating and calculation seems endless)..Its a bike that me and Zen build and the bike will be raced hopefully at the end of the year. there are still some minor adjustments that needs to be made to get the bike running, perfectly, but overall it seems the bike has far exceeded our expectations.

Hi, awsome project...

But I would burry the Weber carb :mog: and switch to a Dell'Orto twin carb. Webers are really difficult to tweak and you will find that it will only take you a week or less to tune the Dell'Orto.

Ducati used Weber twin carb's in the past on the Paso and this bike failed to be a success because theyt never ran perfectly because of the Weber. Later they switched back to Dell'Orto carbs because they couldn't get it right....

Very, very nice project faizal!
Why didn't you turn one of the cilinders around (see harton project)?
Hopefully one day i'm gonna rebuild my triton to a harton/sporton.

Hi TIn Tin...Thanks for the compliment..well....The reason why i choose the Weber DCOE is because of the torque that it can generate, and also because it suits with the drag cams that i\'m currently using. But having said that, your\'re right..Webers are very difficult to tune, unless you know the trick.I've been tuning/rebuilding weber carbs for almost 10 years now(previously with cars i.e classic mini coopers) and this is my first attempt trying to install a DCOE on a bike .. Well, 3 months of hard work seems to produce the result that i wanted (after numerous test rides and tons of jets/chokes/air jets/emulsion tubes,etc...) The carbs are excellent now, with excellent torque!, pulling very hard from stand still up to mid range. running very well without any problem. I purposely designed the bike to produce torque, not top end speed

Just out of interest...
Do you guys have some kind of mechanical workshop...
Or is that just your garage with all those bikes and stuff..

Is the bike registered for road use, or maybe later...

Well, its not really a workshop, more like a shoddy shed/garage where we keep most of our stuff/bikes/cars/spares/etc.... We do occasionally build bikes but not for comercial/sale purposes, just out of curiousity/fun. Nope, we're not mechanics and this is not a business, its just what me and zen do during our free time.
yes, the bike is registered and is road legal..

Luckyboy,
Please drop by if you have the opportunity to come to Malaysia. And that goes around to all my new mates as well. cheers

Thanks friendly invite...
It's an unexpected outcome but thru common Cafe/Biker interests
via net I can planing a holiday pilgramige to:
New zealand over to USA across toGermany Sweden & Holland, back home thru Thailand & Malaysia
And fill my belly with E-buddies biker talk and good cheer...
What fun that would be... if only I was young and dumb again.

In as when younger I left Aussie with one way ticket (to keep price down)
and just $300 in pocket for fabulous adventure...

Now old and wise it's nice to remember those times...sadly
Like you guys and other members,
I have my Shedmechanica... at least.
But thanks.

You know when I first heard about this bike...
The name Invincible caused me to consider... Hmmm cyclops

Now having seen... Shocked
and imagined Idea in conjunction with it's Home environ,
Gentle tropical layed back Malaysia...

I can imagine in amongst all the scooters and 150cc
jap/Sino contraptions, pushbikes and Taxis etc... Suspect

That it must really appear like some Invincible Mechanical thing..
All powerfull with exposed springs, header wrap and noise...

Such is the influence of the Environ on the Cafe outcome,
That it endowes the Title of Titles on the bike and rider... Cool

Man, Machine & Environ...
