Re: try to build a CR 750

Today I've been working on the bracket for the seat.
First a model is made and then I bend the tube.
It's fitted in the seat and put in place.
Just a small weld.
Now I need the bracket on both sides of the seat.

I'm planning to make it in a rubber to keep all vibrations away from the seat and the butt of the driver.

It's a bussy week at work so there will be little time left to spend on the bike this week, gggrrrr.

And this is gona be the rearlights.
10 x rearlight and 10 x brakelight.
With E-type (for Economy)

This way I can decide the shape of the lights.

And this is how the lights will be in the seat.
The lower line is my rearlight.

The Eye is my brakelight witch will be brighter like the real one.

Re: try to build a CR 750

Post  silverCR750 on Sun 7 Feb - 20:45

today I've drilled the holes for the lights.

The light will be changed, the round lights will be the rear-light and the Lower-line will be the brakelight.

I've also removed the electric-starter and saved about 2 kilo of weight.
I would like to remove the kickstarter but as I will use this bike on the road it me be not the right thing to do now.

Now I'l see how the wiring has to become.
For this bike a RS 125 wiring will be used. It's about 25 years younger and all parts are here.

Hi there.
It will be hot to see these lights in the dark.
The bike will be red so by daylight you won't see much of these lights.

I see a lot of work to make the wiring complete.
The entyre diagram needs to be re-shaped and for all parts a place on the bike must be made.
The plan is to place the losse parts in the front of the fairing behind and under the dash.

Here are the old and the new wiring.

I never was too found about wiring , never will be i guess, but then again i dont have a 'voltmeter' , a friend of mine does all the electric stuff.

Like you say if ya can hide the wirings underneath the board and keep it clean its a plus for the overall look.

Just be sure that people can see the brake in daylight man. Otherwise u wont be able to enjoy the fine piece of art you created.

Hi Toecutter,
Sure safety first.
Perhaps I'll make the brake-light flash when I brake.

I also need some help with the wiring. A friend of my has to help with all the small lights and there wiring.

Coming week I will cut open the wiring and place all the parts on the frame.
This way I can see how the wiring needs to go and wich colours have to be used.

A nice puzzle for the coming dark and cold evenings.

Keep you posted.

The wiring is cut open and a lot of cable is not needed in the bike.
This is all "left over"

Hi there,

This weekend I spend a hole day posting the battery, regulator and fuses under the gastank.
It took a lot of messering, fitting and trying.
At the end of the day these 3 parts where in place.
But as I tryed the tank, GGGGRRRRRR to little room under the tank.

After a good night of sleep I decided to take it all off en try again.
Now it fitted even better and the gastank also came in place.

Now the frame is at my work to weld all brackets.

this is the first tryout....

Hi There,

Like I've said,
All brackets are welded on a new place.
The regulator isnow under the coils.
The battery is behind the coils and the fuses are under the frame .

This way the wiring can be very short. And these parts are almost not seen if the tank is in place.

Also the rear of the frame is welded and mounting points for the seat are in place.

Hi there,

So far so good.
It's one great puzzle.
Lots of wires and very nice colours.

But witch colour is for what part and where is it going???
All questions that need to be asked.

Butt now I've figured it out, I think??
I know where a wire is needed and where the part is on the bike.

Now it's time to keep the wiring in place but out of sight.
A few hours to go I would say.

HI,

Today I"ve even pulled some of the wires from the connectors.
This way the wiring will be in the same colours as the diagram.

This is a hell of a job, every thing is so little but it's done.

Hi there,

At last the wiring is complete.
I found it a hell of a job, but that is 'cause I don't know shit about it.

Only 1 connector has to be installed.

Now I can use my time to build other parts.

We're caferacers, aren't we?

So it must read: cool looks first, noise second, speed third, ... safety twentyseventh or so ...

Sorry to step on the world wide rules of Caferacers.

It's almost the same as with a woman. Shocked
Only rule 2 comes on 26th.

Can I see your ride somewhere?

Hi there again,

And in the meanwhile the footpegs are made.
They look a little racy and the weight is less than half of the originals.

The brakepedal is even less then 1/3 of the original.

Still going on.

Hi there,

It's been busy at work lately so not many hours on the Honda.

But little progress on the lightning.
A small led is for the licenceplate and another for "stadslicht"
The led-holders are made from specially disigned IKEA-selfbrackets!!!
And the led's come out of a bikelight!!

I've also bought me a fairing but that's for later on.

Hi there again,

Finaly I found some time to post again.
It's been a little while and I haven't had all of the time I would have liked to work on the bike.
But some work has been done.

Electric is ready.
And instead of a CR-fairing for now I bought me another one.
This one will be one till I find the right one for my CR.

I've also bought me a front and a rear rim.
And I've dicided to paint the inner side.

They have been spoked and ready for mounting.
Hereby some pic's to see how it looks now.
