Norton project

Post  BenG on Thu 6 Aug - 6:06

It is a 1959 500cc Manx.

The gas tank is a Lyta short circuit tank that the previous owner had made for the bike in the eighties.

It won't be a hard project because I have all the parts and it will be made to race, not to show, so I won't worry about making it look like a show bike.

The oil tank is off being repaired. It has a new rod big-end in it, and I have two new pistons that came with it, also new valves and valve springs etc. So it really just needs a bit of paint and to be assembled.

I have a rider who wants to run it in classic events next season and it should be ready for that.

Update: 8-20-09, I had a panel-beater fix up the oil tank, which was badly altered on the front and left side. Now it is ready to be cleaned and painted:

Looks like you got some work there, but a great project to have. Is that a Unity Equipe tank? Can you tell us some more about it?

Very interesting. where can you find a Manx in this condition these days?!
Thought that most of them where already restored or wrecked.
