suzuki gn400 single cilinder caféracer by gerhard and rien

Post  alazzurra 550 alu style on Wed 20 Jan - 23:25

hi guys,

we (gerhard and rien) start this topic because we have a new project.
we are trying to build a café out of a suzuki gn400 single cilinder, and it's going to be a hell of a job because the gn400 is a real chopper.
So we have to upper the back and lower the front to get a more 'racing' set up.
the motorcycle is stripped allready and all the parts are sorted.
we ordered a lot of new parts like new rearshocks, clip-ons, a megaton exhaust, some new bearings, and more café parts,
also brought the carb to dynojet for an ultrasonic cleanig and an other needle and sprayers because we are going to mount an open airfilter.
today i took the front fork apart, put some new seelings and new oil in it and removed the paint from the forks and polished the whole shit.
tomorrow i'm going to cut all the pieces of the frame wich we don't use anymore, after that we can bring the frame and some parts away for sandblasting and powdercoating.
i'dd like to make the frame cobalt bleu and the tank and seat white whit bleu racingsripes. what do you think guys??
thats it for now,
greetz gerhard and rien

this is how we bought the bike

the engine, nice hu!!

Thank you. It looks VERY similar, but there are some small differences. Both the frame and the engine differ on a few minor points.

By the way: I have a lot of spare parts left. Including a lot of forks and in a few weekes also a drum-brake front wheel. A lot of engine/carburator parts aswell. If you need anything, just send me a message. Doesn't need to cost all that much.

Nope. That was missing on my bike too. Had to buy a second engine to get that. I'll be getting a donor bike, but that's missing that cover too.... Pretty hard to find I guess, sorry.

Hey Rien,

Looks great like this. I think we still have to do some modifications, but we can do that in the next weeks of course.
See you saturday.

hi guys.

as you can see now i take your opinions very serious.
changed the angle of the rearshock, an put the seat a bit higher. this is the definitive look of the bike.
i'm still looking for some other forklegs because i'm thinking kornfred was damm right about that. it was the first thing i said when we bought the bike.
see for yourself and please give us your opinion. every meaning is helpfull!!

Hey guys,

You guys are on the richt track with this
Are you going to change the rear of the frame, so that it fits into the seat?
because now its not looking good, the seat is much to high of the frame.
And the forklegs realy have to go,looks like (piep).

keep up the good work, Grtz Frank,
