new project XS750 (what else?)

Post  kornfed on Tue 27 Jul - 23:14

Hello,

I'm the new owner of a beautyfull original XS750.
After some thinking what to do whith it the bullet is trough the church: it's gonna be my second selfbuild caferacer.

I "bought" it for a some beer and a fryingpan. (not to much I think)
I keep you informed whith the progress of the transformation to a caferacer.
But first I'm going to enjoy a well deserved (in my opinion) holiday starting on the beautifull isle of Texel.

Now here are some pics:

the arrival:

after some cleaning:

look at the state of the brand new exhaust!

It hasn't run for 1.5 year. After loading the dead batterie it started after 2 kicks cheers
That's Japanese engineering on it's best. Very Happy

Looks Good! I recently picked up another XS850 for another cafe project. I like that nice new exhaust, What brand is that? I started toying around with building my own 3 into 1 with a collector like what you have.

Keep us posted on your new project.

nice project

Post  Hank on Sat 7 Aug - 20:25

Hallo Kornfed,
When I'm thinking of buying a bike, my wife will hit me with the Wok and throw away all my beer! ( I'm not complaning, I've already have six bikes, but only one XS 750 ) My idea of a next project was building a street scrambler of a XS 750 / 850 , high siamese exhaust, trail tires and a small tank, but at this moment I got a lot to do, building my Magni Honda and a BSA B31, both not real cafe racers.
I'm curious what you will make of that ( ugly ) yellow bike !

next project

Post  Hank on Sat 7 Aug - 20:50

Hallo Kornfed,
what do you ( and others ) think, is my Magni project something to show on the cafe-racer forum or isn't it enough cafe racer? I've just started the rebuilding.
I'm curiuos about the reactions,

Offcourse you can post pics of your Magni Honda. It is also a classic bike site. And a Magni is very classic AND caferacerish (huh)
However it has one small problem........It has one cilinder to much Very Happy

I don't know what I'm gonna do exactly whith the Egg XS. I was also thinking of Scrambler style exhausts but then I have to do a lot mare of the look from the bike. I wan't to make it a bit more extreme then the green one. So no batterie only kick. No unneccesary electrics ans so one.
You've made your white XS kick only too. What kind of batterie did you use? (maybe a picture?)
I want to mount one as small as possible. Also read that you can use an condensator but not sure if it works well.
So tips are welcome.

Yamaha XS 750

Post  Hank on Sat 7 Aug - 23:47

Hallo Kornfed,
I used a gel battery ( from Hans Beck, about 30 euro, e-mail; beckelektronika@planet.nl ). Be careful that your system is not producing more than 14,4 volt.
My wife is driving a Yamaha diversion 600, thats also having a small battery, then it is even posible to use a startmotor.
The gel accu is working Ok, but don't forget your light, its quickly empty and than you have a problem.
I will put a picture of the frame after modification on Photobucket and then on the forum.
My bike is running well, but also using a lot of oil. This winter I will look at the engine or ( hope !!! ) to find a XS 850 engine.
And you are right about the Magni four cylinder engine, I will ask Arthuro Magni if he got a MV 500 3 cylinder engine for exchange,

Today did some work on the frame. All the unneccesary stuff is gone.
I think the colour will be matte gold.
