Yamaha XS 750

Post  Hank on Sun 19 Dec - 15:35

Hey Hans,
I see that you want to use a more "bobber "style. Those fat tyres are also avaiable in Holland. They are expensive ( about 130 euro's ) and they are having no speed code.
I was thinking about an 18 inch frontwheel, then you can use a bigger tyre. A frontwheel of an XS 400 is 18 inch and will fit. It only have one brakedisk, but I think it is possible to fit a second disk.
The gel battery that I use on my HANX is very small. Maybe it is possible to place it somewhere under the patrol tank, to get it out of sight.
I'm curious about your results,
Greatings Hank.

This is where I get rid of my battery

Looks great Hank.
I had this:
http://www.kickstartershop.de/product_info.php?info=p3259_Mini-BATTERIE-AKKU-battery-SR-XT-DR-XL-500-SRX-X--600--.html&XTCsid=q3d0hc4vuvg6hqas1911l0dfo4 batterie in mind for the XS
It is so small it almost fits everywhere.

I know the tires are expensive but I like them really. I will keep your tip for a smaller front wheel in mind.
Today I mounted a Kawa Z750 tank on the frame . After some hammering it fits.

I like the result.

tires

Post  Hank on Thu 13 Jan - 1:39

The tires on the bike are Firestones. They are avaiable in 4.00 x 18 and 4.00 x 19 inch. You can try on the internet to find them, but like I said I would try a smaler front wheel.

Yesterday I took my frame to the powdercoater and some small parts.
I had to take the wheels back because I forget to remove the bearings. So I did that today. The colour of the frame will be grey RAL7039

Now I have the right impression about the colours. I had some doubt about the frame colour but that's gone now.

I ordered parts in Germany.

I renewed all the bearings including the wheels. Lots of money which you don't see.

I also ordered Avon classic tires today and waiting to arrive.
[img][/img]
I like the backtire a lot it looks like the Firestone classic but is much cheaper and has better specs.

If im honost , i think it would be better to paint the whole tank green, and some other components in the same color but subtle. But this might struggle with the black rims Neutral

Good job using isolation wraps, anyhow , what type of bearings are you going to use for the wheels ?
I hear there are quite a few on the market ?

I allready baught the bearings in Germany from a XS750 specialist (www.triples.de) They where about 40 euro's for a set (rear+front)

I also mounted the swingarm. The shocks are temporary untill I found black ones. No chrome on this bike No
[img][/img][img][/img]

Now I'm looking for a nice handlebar. I don't want clip-ons. Looking more for a vintage bar.
Something like the one below:
