thanks fellers. very kind of you to say so.i actually rode it down the street albeit it rather slowly, for the first
time yesterday and it felt pretty good for a bike i have very little money into.
the countershaft sprocket was knackered as well as the chain so i spent a few dollars on a cog and used a new 530 chain i had in the stash from days gone by.
naturally the petcock was leaking like a sieve so i took it apart a time or two and managed to stop it leaking without resorting to BUYing any thing save some "Gasket Cinch" which i used to seal the tank to petcock area.
today i'll change the oil and filter-IF i'm not careful i'll have over 200 dollars in the beast!!
(IT REALLY needs a set of tires.... Wink and tubes...

next i need to sort the wiring and get the head/tail lights working proper.
i plan to sell it and turn that money into a fund for another XS 650 project.
i have a good motor and"Need" a rolling chassis to start from.
the local salvage yard has about 40 650's!! mostly rotting corpses.
