New user from Melbourne, Australia. with 2 x '78 suzuki GS750
Hi my name's Matt aka number8wire,
I live in Melbourne, Australia and own 2 1978 Suzuki GS 750s. I started riding bikes in New Zealand when I was 15, bought a broke down old Suzuki GN250 and had it running the following day.. much to my mother's dismay. As a lad I always had access to my fathers tools and have always loved pulling bikes to pieces and modifying them. I'm now in my mid 30's and live in Australia, I have a background in mechanical engineering and a fairly basic workshop set-up in my backyard. Of the 2 machines I own, one is a project i've been working on for the last few months and it's nearing completion. I've focussed on removing all the unneccesary junk included in a stock build and have gone for a classic (british?)70's racer style. The other is a complete mess that needs to be stripped completely and rebuilt piece by piece, this will become my next project once the first is out of the way!
One of my major aims has been to do all the work myself, this has forced me out of my comfort zone having to pick up new skills along the way and learn from my mistakes. The Internet has been my most integral tool in the whole process.
My aim here is to learn from others and also to share my own (fairly meager) knowledge
I hope to begin posting pics soon and offer up lots of info to go with them.

here they are prior to any application of number 8 wire..
This is my first gs750.. looked kinda sweet when I first purchased her(as pictured). I reckon the end result will be much sweeter!

This is the second beast.. rough as guts!! She still runs(just) but will definitely require a complete tear-down.

Thanks 650zed!
Today has been frustrating.. complete carbie clean and re-build.. 2 of the 4 carbies leaked fuel when primed...ggggrrrrr
Apparently they no longer make the connectors I require so I may have to commision someone to spin some T-connectors up on their lathe!?
My nearly - complete project is quickly becoming my not so nearly complete project

Thanks Frank!
Update on completion of my first project.. Carburettor problem sorted! Took it for it's maiden voyage around the backstreets of my neighbourhood to charge the battery.. Yeehah. The next step will be to balance and tune the carbies, then try for a roadworthy certificate and registration. Then take some pics and post them here!
