Hello dear Jon,

That indeed looks a very purposeful bike in the making. Seems like you spend quite a bit of attention to detail, which really makes a nice Triton an excellent one.

Sorry for the late reply; been a bit busy with my new job and such. Also bought me a Speed Triple (yes, the first one. T300), which has been sapping some time and funds. And a SACHS MadAss 125, to commute on. (a lovely little bike, indeed, with a rediculous mileage) So I took no note of your extensive reply on the 8 valve head matter. Sorry for that, but I'll make amends later.

Mooner's been quite busy as well; his bike's turning out quite nice. Funny thing is that building one of these really says so much of the owner itself; there's hardly any one alike!
I myself have built the bike to true fifties standards, Manxman-like. So I am one of the black frame adepts. I went to great lengths retaining the K2F, obtaining an original Manx tank, machineing a steering damper with NOS Bakelite knob, fitting lighting without the need for a battery etc. etc. Never done with one of these, really...

This weekend I hope to finalise current work on it by fitting a new rear chain; that's it really. The carbs are a bit dodgy and should be renewed, but I'll keep that for later. Been spending too much money without hardly any riding. Hopefully I'll get to attend a classic meeting nearby, this weekend. If all things work out, I'll try to make a couple of pictures of the bike and spend a bit of attention on how-to-post-pictures on this site...

Keep you posted and keep up the good work, Jilles.

PS. Couple of months back Classic Bike portrayed a twin-engined Triton with a blue metallic frame. Kinda liked that one, besides the outrageous engine. Loved that!

Hi Jilles,

I need to see some pictures

I've seen the pics of the doubled engined Triton I think same guy has a gold framed norvin as well both very nice bikes indeed

I've just been Round to Tony Harris's house for a 5 minute chat (stayed an hour!) to pick up one of his SUPER electronic ignition kits

What an engineer!!!!!! shhhhhhh shouldn't say too much but what a fantastic V-Twin norton he's about to fire up

The unit I picked up is a self generating electronic ignition so no need for battery although will fit a generating system for that day time MOT lol!

Once again a big thank you to Tony for his words of wisdom and fantastic product, Sorry to all the purists out there but why fit a lucas magneto and have the hassle of points when you can fit and forget

Check out Tony's handywork at http://bt-h.biz/

Next step the front forks, Gearbox, Belt Drive and Rear wheel I'll keep you posted

Been a long time

Post  manx8valvetriton on Wed 26 Mar - 14:04

Hi all,

I'm back after a long term away from the site......... Just a quick update to let you know project 8 valve is still very much alive.....
Got rid of the Dunstall twin disc set up to a chap in Italy and the rear Triumph conical hub has gone to a new home as well... so brakes well here goes spoke with Howard at Disco Volante (brake Porn) and now have a very nice manx rear hub in Magnesium and awaiting the king of stoppers from Italy A 250mm 4ls Fontana with black chromate finish to the brake plates.

I will of course post pics very soon
