Hello from the USA

Post  51 AJS on Sun 20 Mar - 10:50

Hello everyone, I just found this website and I'm looking forward to seeing some great classic bikes from around the world. I live in Southern California in the USA. Great riding pretty much year round.

I've recently acquired my uncle's 1951 AJS that he used to ride when he was young. I hope to start the restoration soon. I can't wait to bring it back to life. Will post pictures soon. Any suggestions of where to obtain restoration parts are appreciated.

Thank,
Scott

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, a '51, I can find info (pics, manuals, info, specs, etc.) on a '50 or a '52 but not for a '51. It also has 2 single exhaust pipes, one low on each side, where all others I've seen (minus factory racers) all had a 2 into 1 pipe configuration mounted low on the right side.

Hopefully I'll find the answers I need to restore it correctly through members on this site. Looking forward to the restore & meeting other vintage bike enthusiasts.

Scott

Thanks for the welcome to the forum.

Tin Tin,
Thank you for the info. It does look like that bike in the picture from the first link you posted. I do recall finding out that the model was designated an Model 19 or 20. Now to get the correct manual and track down all new rubber, bearings, gaskets, etc. before I start stripping her down. I will definitely have to post pics of the restore as it progresses.
