Looking as this could be a nice 2-stroke smoker

Would be nice if you also keep us posted directly on this forum on building progress instead of the link...

OK, thanks. We just don't want the forum to be a portal to other sites...

That bike was my first roadbike, now almost 32 years ago. I still got a picture of it with the proud owner ( 32 years ago!! )

same problem

Post  Hank on Sat 12 Nov - 0:41

You've got the same problem, to many nice bikes to work on, I got four bikes in good running condition, but also four project bikes. I had to dicyde to work only on two of them at the moment, to get something finished next summer.

Well, I did end up restoring the R3, even just washing the tank the yellow came off, I think it was done in a house paint, so I figured i can't just paint the tank nice and leave everything else. I'll get some more pics up after tomorrow. Here is one part way through.

I also picked up another which I have started to restore too.

I mainly wanted it for the seat but the motor ran well so I figured I would restro it as well. You can see the seat is collapsed and I can see by Hank's photo that it was a problem even way back then, the foam they used back then must have been inferior.
I have already done the painting on this one.

BTW, I have a mostache, had it most of my life:-)

The black one , so beautiful. Is that chrome on the side of the tank or a very nice paint job ?

hi Toecutter, it is chrome, normally painted on the R3's but I decided to chrome them like the R2 had.

Well smoking

Post  Hank on Thu 12 Jan - 15:36

Those were the days, cheap petrol, crazy two stroke bikes, but I'm happy that I don't live in a flat no more.
A running picture of the Yamaha,
