Ducati Monster Retro Cafe

Post  BlackKat on Sun 30 Oct - 16:38

I try to come up with a theme with all my projects. I love bikes...all bikes. It annoys me when someone says you Cafe bike can't have billet or carbon or even fuel injection. I'm sorry, who wrote the book the defines a cafe racer? My monster is about 85% done. Its my take a retro cafe bike with lines and characteristics obvious to Ducati but also with classic cafe touches. I call her my Retro Il Mostro Cafe.

The basic highlights:
Hand rolled aluminum cafe tail with custom seat
Custom paint
1080 big bore kit
Ducati Performance Cams
Lightened flywheel
Lightened, polished, balanced and knife edged crank
Tuneboy software for the fuel mapping
Carbon fiber clip-ons with a Speedymoto custom triple
3k yellow hid lighting kit behind the yellow headlight
Guzzi style fairing
1 off custom exhaust made by the same guy who actually manufactures all the Fast By Ferracci exhausts.
Tons of parts powder coated, side cases etc..

To wrap her up over the long winter here, I have obtained a set of Ohlins front forks from a 1098R with the infamous Brembo Mono Block front caliper, the rear swing arm will be powder coated black and a velocity stack intake to eliminate the airbox and open up the beautiful frame a little further.

I realize she is a bit modern for most, but I wanted to show it could be done. The next build I do will start on a Featherbed and will have an Italian heart! Gotta do something different!

I'm so curious about the featherbed!
Do you have a project topic somewhere?

Well,
I'm still assembling parts. The short of it will be a featherbed frame with a DS1000 Ducati motor taken back to old school with FCR Carbs. Thinking of a wilcox tank, but modern Ohlins suspension... more old style with some motor to really get her going..

Thats why I'm here. I need inspiration on the style....

Like you say: its modern... but it sure looks great!
Very nice seat with the red stitching, fits superb in combination with the paintjob.
Does the exhaust sounds as good as it looks?
