Thriumph bonneville ace of spades (second attempt)

Post  marc 63 on Mon 13 Aug - 20:49

Hi guys and girls. long time since i been here.
remember this one ?

I sold this bike before it was even finished, and i always regret this afterwards. It has been always on my mind to do this again
someday. well, that day has finally came. cheers
Two weeks ago i selled my Yamaha fz1 and bought a thriumph bonneville.
The idea is to build it exactly like the Honda cb550 with a few different things.
here are soms pics of the new project, and this time a wont sell the bike again. Very Happy

this is the bike the day i bought it.

the same day i get rid of all the bling and not nessecery things.

a week later i started to change the bike.
And this is the project so far.
i'm waiting for some parts to go further, and next week im gonna paint the tank and fender.

so, i keep you posted.

The thriumph is transformed. Still lots to do,but now it's gonna be slowly, and in the meanwhile i'm can ride the bike. I painted not in black as i was going to,but in a metallic dark gray. It's really nice(i think Wink ) Here are some pics of it.
I hope you like it.

Sorry i don't post much. But here is an update on my bonneville. a lot of things are different, and i have still a lot of idea's Cool . What did i do between Oktober and now?
well, placed another steer, exhausts are now black predators, the seat is selfmade on a fiberglass rear. get rid of the airfilter and placed two dna filters(the same as k&n but a lot cheaper Wink ) other grips , chain and sprocket covers and some other stuff. Next on the list is paint the sidecovers of the engine in wrinkle satin black(a bit like harley engine's) the instruments are one and gonna be replaced by only 1 instrument. Later on i wil chanche the rearwheel for another wider and the rims of both wheels must be satin black. so, that is it for now. here some pics of my project.

my black ace bar. nicer on the bonneville.

alu chainguard.

biltwell grips light brown.

alu sprocket cover

fiberglass rearend

start to make the alu plate for my seat.

I'm a motorhead fan. so... Cool

Got my seat back. i Like it Very Happy

made a rear mudguard. this is the model;

and in alu plate.

mounted a miller rearlight.retro Cool

notice the instruments are gone.looks cleaner like that.

finally the predators are in the house.

here a movie for the sound. qualitity is nor good, but you hear the sound of the exhausts.

and last i painted my risers black. Looks cleaner.

that's it for now. keep you posted;

Update on my bonneville.

I was not happy with the line between the seat and tank. somehow it was not right what i want to see. so i made 15 mm spacers , and mounted the tank 15 mm higher to the seat . Now i have a straight line, and it looks cleaner. also painted a few parts of the bike in Wrinkle paint. The chrome sidecovers of the engine, and the chainguard. Also get rid of the rpm counter. It looks cleanrer with only 1 instrument . Here are some new pics. Next on the list is to powdercoat the rims of the wheels in black .

Dont look at the blue silicone joint. It wil be removed when its hardened.

Thanks. the wrinkle paint is a spray can.

It's a really fine product. Easy to work with and great results. You paint your parts and then bake them in an oven or a cabin at 90 degrees.

It is scratch proof. Gasolineproof ??? i did not check it. But i cleaned the silicone joint with brake cleaner and the wrinkle paint looks still good. I think it's gonna be ok , because the most use for this paint are rocker covers from cars and it holds very well.
