i don't like the modern classics too much. They look a fake and sound worse than BMW!
But I guess they don't burn as much oil as my trident does ....

you're right about the ""fake"" of modern classics. I read an article in a French mag explaing that the new Triumph Bonneville 08 has no carburettors anymore, but an injection, and the injectors are hidden behind fake carburators!! (Moto Revue Classic march/april 2008, page 52)... Truely disgusting... Mad They say that even the choke is there, but useless of course, just for decoration...
This is going too far for me Let's ride real bikes!

I'm not all that particularly fond of these newborn classics too, but to me, they seem a good alternative for women who also like driving a classic looking bike but can't handle either their technical failiures or aren't able to get them started in the first place, cause let's face it: kicking off an old Triumph or a bevel-twin Ducati is no childs play.

Hi motorhead - sorry but your Triumph is more "asia" than you think. Frame comes - i mean china! - other parts Japan. Donīt misunderstand - i have also a Bonneville in my garage it is a wonderfull - stressless bike, Any bike has a birthday - in 20 years the guys will say : " oh, boh look at this - an old carb Thruxton! " And then your - today "modern classic" bike went to a real classic - and the today classic`s to real "oldtimer". And think about an old norton. "if you find no oil under the motor - no oil is inside!" So ride your Thruxton with proud - China, Japan, England - importand is that your feeling on it gives you a "freedom time" !!

Thruxtons are cool . The only thing with them is you can never keep them stock . You'll always want to do SOMETHING with it . Like so :

The TBSs *are in a category of their own . Bigger , badder better Thruxton built 10 yrs too early . One of my favorite Hinckley Triumphs they've made yet . I love my Thruxton but I'd take a TBS any day over a Thruxton .
