CB400Four Cafe/Classic racer

Post  tjeeke on Tue 27 May - 23:29

I'm building up a cb400Four from scratch to racer.
It all began with 6 boxes, two frames and 4 wheels.
The idea was building one cb400f, the cash needed for building one would come from selling the parts which I didn't need. Laughing (That's what I told my wife Razz )
After surfing on the internet, I came up with the idea of building a caferacer.
When I was building, I met a former racedriver who still makes tanks, seatcover and stuff.
Then I came up with the idea of making a streetlegal classicracer.
Now I will show you the latest pics,
As we speak the tank, seat and fender are prepared and will be painted one of these days.
Last week I also placed other springs on the back.
The original were to short, I've replaced them for a set springs from a CB900 Bol d'or.
Please sit back and enjoy,
Comment is more then welcome.

Ton up folks: :face:

This is how it began...a friend of mine offered me to coat a frame for free...
Ofcourse I couldn't say no, but from that point I knew the bike must be proper build to become a pretty bike.
One with a X-factor.

Re-shape the head bracket, into my style..

Just bought a wrong tank on Ebay, too BIG :face:

Then I found a nice one, but needed in and outside work.
Making a right the tank fit on the frame....

Okay, maybe they're right and the orange lines are not exactly necessary...
Still: you got yourself a great bike!
I saw it also, in Achterveld. I was impressed.

Mooi gedaan hoor, chapeau!

Very Happy

The seat was originaly a bit longer, say 4 inches.
So it's a real one seater.
But with some polyester, you can make it a two seater. No problem.
I never saw an caferacerseat with taillights buildin.
Good luck

Bit like this one, but i'd place the license plate a bit more to the inside, such that the bulb to illuminate the license plate can be hidden under and inside the tail.

Just a couple of days ago I bought a rearset for my CB400F.
Believe me, these are rare.
It's suitable for a 350F & 400F.
When the set is mounted, I'll make same piccas.... Laughing

Today I got finally some spare time, to fit my new megaton-exhaust on the bike.
It fitted, but I really don't think it's road legal.... Twisted Evil
What a herrie-pipe... jocolor

But my oldest son, would like to take my bike for a spin.
Sure, no problem. I can handle the cops, just don't tell Mom....

He he I know what you mean, my son is just 4, so it's a bit difficult. I seat him on the tank, between my arms, and we ride only in my street. Still, he finds it reeeeeeally cool! You're never too young to learn how to handle a kawasaki
This way, at least, he learns to enjoy the smell of gas, burning oil and leather. The three most important smells in the world, as far as I'm concerned!
