Post  pistonpedro on Thu 5 Feb - 19:14

Hi all,

This is my bike. after a few years of ignorence in my garage i'm planning to start finetuning her again.
I will try to rebuild my carbs and redo the cilinderhead, cilinderblock and pistons, also the ignition will get renewed!
If anyone has suggestions about this or relevant sites for buying stuff like carb-kits and ignitions please let me know

Welcome Pistonpedro!
Very nice kawa, I love to see a Z650, it's one of my favorite bikes!

Is it a B ? 1977 or 1978?

Up to now, there are only two Z650 here: yours and mine
(my z650)

It's a frankenstein it's made out of different types
the frame is from a 1982 Z650 F3
the engine case is from 1978 Z650 C2 but the inner parts are from 3 or 4 different engines haha
the wheels and some other stuff are from a B model i think.
its got the original elektronic ignition from the F3 too i guess but i would like to replace it with a better and modern type of ignition.
The tank and seat are unknown to me.. i rebuild the bottom of the tank in polyesther to make it fit on the frame.
the pipes are custom made as wel as the footrests and batteryholder.

here's a pic of my previous bike (rip)
i parked it in the trunk of a slow moving vehicle 1 year after i had build it. oeps
notice the seat its made of a wok lol

Hi, I has a Z650 about a year ago, had all sorts of carb problems, or so i thought, could never get it to run smooth no matter what I did. Turned out it was the shim clearences, once that was sorted the carbs tuned up as normal. So my advise is do the shims before you bother with the carbs. I fitted a electronic ignition from Boyer Bransen, a google search will find them..cheers.chris

BTW your bike is beautiful.

Yes I think the wheels are from a B model, it's the only model with spoke wheels from 1976 until 1979 anyway. The 1978 C model had no spoke-wheels anymore. Anyway, that's a great job you did, and you got yourself a great Zed!

The old one (yellow one) is even nicer, as far as I'm concerned. A true beauty. Using a wok is a good idea! Twisted Evil I also simply made mine out of a metal plate:z650 seat
