Grey Diva SR500 project from Andreas

Post  andreas on Mon 4 May - 22:42

So, C- racers arround the world. Until waiting for my SR Motor i start now a new project. Look at these pictures. First step is to strip down the bike, chop the frame, sandblasting, welding and slip it. You know the wheels ( metamorphose of old Yamaha Aluwheels). At the moment the rear one is under construction to change the bearingsystem to a better version ( no more glidesystem). Check some diffferent seats, frontwheel get tomorrow an Pirelli MT 60 . So look what`s possible with this rusty iron. Andreas

And here the frame after first work.

And a view on the wheels.
Next days you get more!

Hi Marc , look in technical tutorials under "metamorphose of old Yamaha Aluwheels". It`s only a typ of "polish surface"

So here is my update for the "grey Diva". Today i get the frame back from powdercoating. Also some other parts - like motormounts brakeparts etc. You can see the frontwheel with new tire - so the optic is more raw machinestyle. Update follow.
The bike get little red "dots" on special aluparts. Next days i clean all threads an press in the bearings on her new home!. So some days more and the rolling frame is ready

Hi Marc, every day i rebuild some parts. Today for example a pair of old Tommasellis. The problem is - at the moment - the rearwheel, cause i must work on a very big lathe to put some bearings in. The chainwheel is normaly without - and it like to get space after some years using. So here i put also a bearing inside and put all together. If it`s finish - the frame goes on wheels and the next steps comming. Not so fast - cause the plessure is, to make it perfect without timestress. Andreas

Today i put in the steeringbearing - but forgot to buy a fu..ing washer !! Next problem - i can`t get off the headnut from the right fork - So i must try it with hotairgun, Caramba and some curse over the parts. I "play" with some parts, but without decision. Next week more. Andreas

Don`t know if i use the tank with clipons - i will see.

Hi Gilafuera - how crazy is this - i "talk" with a guy on the other side of the world - so normal today - but is it normal ?
So, fine that you like my work. Take a view to my "blue DIVA" project today, it is near finish, and i must get "only" the license to ride it here on the road. Sometimes it will be the biggest problem to get the new title, cause the bike stand still over 6 years! So let us know what you do!

Thanks for the flowers - but be sure - it is no magic - you can do it also. Some jobs can be done easier - for example: You can paint the frame - so you spare the action with powdercoating. I must look on google earth where you live!
It is so far away for me, and i like so much the "Mexican style" ! This is my favorite country - if you ask me what i like to eat!! So i drink a bootle "cornbeer" like you do this in TexMex country and take some nachos with chili dip a hot cheese !

only a small update - frontend is now ready - rearend under construction. Next days i bring the swingarm to his new "house" and rebuild the rearhub with new special bearing system - normally it works as a "glide" system. So only a short time and "grey Diva" stand on her new polished leggs.

And here is the next update - today get some SR parts form Malaysia - only 8 weeks on the road, boot and now in my garage. Not sure if i take the swingarm for this bike. I rebuild now 3 SR500 at the same time. Today i stripped another one.
So next time two other frames go for powdercoating. At the moment i prepare arround 100 parts for this work - so that the
price goes down!
